THE PEELIES

The Peelies are an all-girl band equally inspired by their moms and Snatch (as in Patty Palladin's band, not the movie.) They've been playing together for under a year, and still managed to gather quite the following. It must be their Raincoats-like swagger, or maybe their perfect mix of French yéyé, punk technique (or lack of) and garage sing-along melodies. For some reason, each time they put on a show, the crowd starts chanting "We are the world, we are The Peelies" in perfect harmony. We believe it's magic. The other thing that's magic: that Tumblr page. Take it as a trip inside their brains, or something.

Apparently there’s nothing like retrofuturism, so here are The Peelies (Side A) and Jesuslesfilles (Side B) releasing 4 new songs each on a split C90, on label Planet of the Tapes.  Jesuslesfilles and The Peelies have shared the stage on numerous occasions, namely for a satanic mexican party in Hochelaga, at Festival de Musique Émergente in Rouyn-Noranda and maybe 3-4-12 times at local rock hangout l’Esco. It only made sense to put this love story to the test by releasing something together. And instead of sending each other mixtapes, they just decided to record 4 new songs and share the love with y’all. Beautiful.
